Abstract

This paper outlines the influence of drug procaine hydrochloride on the micellar properties of long chain imidazolium based ionic liquid[C15mim] [Br]. Significant physicochemical properties like critical micelle concentration and other thermodynamic parameters are evaluated to detect the change in micellar properties of ionic liquid with the addition of varied concentrations of drug. The conductometric titrations were done for ionic liquid in aqueous solution and aqueous solution of drug in a varied temperature range (298.15 - 308.15 K). Experimental data obtained via conductometric study were utilized for determination of CMC value and various thermodynamic parameters. The decrement is observed in CMC value of ionic liquid with increasing drug concentration and also with decreasing temperature. These ionic liquid drug mixtures have applications in various fields and can be helpful for other investigators for better in development medicinal chemistry.
