Abstract
The investigation of mixed micellar behavior of surface-active ionic liquid (SAIL) i.e. 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexadecyl sulfate [C4mim][HS] with cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) has been done to explore the type of interactions prevailing in SAIL/Surfactant mixed system. For this, the conductometric measurements are carried out at (298.15, 308.15 and 318.15) K for various mole fractions of [C4mim][HS]. Various theoretical models such as Clint, Rubingh, Motomura and Rodenas have been applied to understand mixed micellar behavior of SAIL/Surfactant mixed system. The value of critical micelle concentrations (cmc), ideal critical micelle concentrations (cmc*), micellar mole fraction based upon various models, interaction parameter (β) and various thermodynamic parameters have been evaluated for the studied systems. The variations of various parameters with respect to temperature and mole fractions give insight to type of interactions present in mixed system.
