Abstract

Photodetectors, also called photosensors, are sensors of light or other electromagnetic
radiation.Graphene is a carbon allotrope composed of a single layer of carbon atoms that are
linked together in a hexagonal configuration. Rolled graphene is used to make carbon
nanotubes, another developing material. The ultra-fast, wide-range spectrum response of
graphene photodetectors from visible to infrared benefits from the excellent carrier mobility,
linear dispersion along with 0 bandgap of graphene. graphene photodetectors have the high
responsivity of 500 A/W for 450 nm light and 4 A/W for 1064 nm light. Graphene's strong
compatibility with Silicon technology, the recent findings pave way for high-performance
chip-integrated photodetectors, been investigated. This article will be covering different types
of photodetectors which differ in type of materials used along with graphene and type of
methods of manufacture. It gives each devices construction and working along with results on
its responsivity and sensitivity. We then cover the innumerable applications of graphene-based photodetectors in communication sector, medical sector, in flexible electronics which are discussed briefly. We also discuss the progress of materials and
manufacturing techniques, and highlight that Because of their ability provide long-term
real-time accurate monitoring, graphene photodetector devices are becoming more
attractive.Lastly we discuss advantages and hurdles such as Reliability, quality, adaptability,
and longevity that is to be overcome.
