Abstract

Agriculture has proven to be an integral part of human history and evolution. Chronologists have observed that the locations of the earliest human civilizations have been deeply affected by the availability of agro-friendly conditions and the environment. In modern times, a nation’s agricultural prowess provides an apt indication of the rate of development and the quality of life of its citizens.

Traditionally, farming has been a tiresome task. It demands excessive physical effort and sound knowledge of geographical factors. Apart from this, the yield from the conventional method is prone to dangers such as insect attacks, rotting, exposure to unfavourable environmental conditions. These have a negative effect on crop quality and quantity. Moreover, this method requires a large amount of land. The advent of IoT has opened new possibilities and opportunities in this field. Hydroponic and IoT can prove to be an effective solution to the shortcomings of primitive farming techniques. Hydroponic is based on the principle that plants can grow sustainably in any environment if they are provided nutrition and correct ambient conditions.
