Abstract

Scientists have proven in science that the Uzbek language is a multi-dialect among the Turkic languages. Dialects of the Uzbek language were intensively studied in the 50s of the twentieth century and the main characteristics of the Uzbek dialects were identified. In the 11th - 20th centuries, Uzbek dialects have retained their ecological features. The current trend in the development of dialects cannot ensure the purity of dialects, since the movement of the population from one point to another necessarily affects the ecological features of dialects. In this article, the subject of study is such dialects that have not succumbed to the serious influences of the dialects of the surrounding area. Uzbek dialects have been studied over the years in different approaches, starting from the 11th century. In particular, in the 1920s, numerous scientific studies of Uzbek dialects were carried out in connection with the search and establishment of the main dialect of the Uzbek literary language. Researchers overlook the dialectology of this period because it was suppressed during the former Soviet Union. This article for the first time periodizes the history of the study of Uzbek dialects; the features of each period, researchers and their contribution to science are highlighted.
