Abstract

Biosynthesis of silver and zinc oxide nanoparticles (Ag and ZnO NPs) from silver nitrate and zinc
oxide nitrate solutions distinctly using water extract of fresh turmeric at room temperature was carried
out under stirring condition. Visually experiential on the change of the reaction solution from colourless
to dark brown after the addition of water abstract of creased fresh turmeric which indicates the
development of the (Ag and ZnO NPs). The silver and ZnO NPs obtained stayed characterized by UV–
vis, FT-IR, Powder SEM, XRD, TGA and TEM. X- Ray diffraction spectra of the Ag and ZnO
nanoparticles ranges from 10 nm to 20 nm for silver and 12 to 30 nm for zinc oxide which are in better
agreement by SEM and TEM images for the size and spherical shape. The antibacterial activity of silver
and zinc oxide nanoparticles stayed verified compared to two bacteria strains. Escherichia coli and
Staphylococcus aureus. The region of inhibition is better for g. positive bacteria and g. negative bacteria.
MIC of Ag = 0.0321 mg/ ml, MIC of ZnO = 0.125 mg/ ml and MIC of Turmeric = 0.5 mg/ml. The
antioxidant activity remained assessed by with 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The MTT assay
remains used to quantity cellular metabolic movement as an indicator of cell viability, production and
cytotoxicity.
