Abstract

In the present scenario for production of high strength concrete the amount of cement required is very high. As the grade of concrete increases amount of cement also increasing. By adding small number of mineral admixtures to the concrete mix can improve the strength of concrete effectively. Aim of this work is to develop the high strength self-compacting concrete which can be self-cured. In the present study Nano silica (NS) used as mineral admixture, Polyethylene glycol (PEG) used as self-curing agent. Firstly, optimum content of NS determined and then optimum dosage of NS added to the self-curing concrete mixes. Nano silica was replaced with cement in 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% by mass of cement. Polyethylene glycol was replaced with water in 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% by mass of cement. Durability properties like RCPT and water absorption tests were performed. The improved results for durability were observed at 2% addition of NS and 3% addition of PEG.
