The objective of this research paper is to examine the impact of occupational stress on the work-life balance among university teachers in India. The primary data is collected from the university teachers working in India using the survey method. The questionnaire is developed and using a data collection tool. A standard questionnaire on occupational stress, work-life balance, and work environment was identified for the study. The different statements which are included in the questionnaire were identified from different sources namely literature review, discussion with experts, articles published in magazines and newspapers, discussion with faculties, etc. The responses of faculty members are collected against these statements. The findings of the study are based on empirical findings on the response of faculty members of private higher education institutions. The occupational stress questionnaire had 18 items 7 point scale consisting of 5 factors, whereas work-life balance had 28 items 7 point scale consisting of 4 factors and work environment had 10 items 7 point scale. Questionnaires were distributed to the teachers to collect the response related to their phenomenon. The sample size in this study was 389. The judgemental sampling technique is used to choose the respondent from the sampling frame. The questionnaires were distributed personally and through e-mail to faculty members of the university. The mediating effects and moderating mediation effect is used to examine the hypothesis the statistical analysis is done with the help of process macro provided by professor Andrew ayes and PLS smart. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 and AMOS. The reliability analysis is done by coronach alpha; validity is done with the help of the confirmatory factor analysis method and hypotheses are tested with the help of the SEM approach. In the paper, the CFA method is used to examine the construct validity (i.e. convergent and discriminant validity) of the identified dimensions of occupational stress and the different dimensions of work-life balance. The measurement model is developed which explains the different aspects of occupational stress and work-life balance. All the constructs in the measurement model are of the first order and reflective in nature. The reliability and validity of the factors namely "work environment", "occupational stress" and "work-life balance" are studied using the CFA method. The Cronbach alpha is used to examine the status of internal consistency reliability where the minimum required estimate of Cronbach alpha is 0.7 . Table 2 depicts that the Cronbach alpha measure of "work environment" is 0.894, "occupational stress" 0.917, and "work-life balance" 0.919. As the Cronbach alpha coefficient of all the constructs is greater than 0.7, the internal consistency reliability of the scale is acceptable. Table 2 also indicates the construct loadings of all the statements/items along with their estimated values of composite reliability (CR), average variable extracted (AVE) and maximum shared variance (MSV) estimates. The CR, AVE, and MSV indicate the presence of convergent and discriminant validity in the measurement model. Based on the statistical analyses conducted, the finding reported that the work environment is found to have a significant positive effect on work-life balance whereas occupational stress has a significant negative impact on work-life balance. The effect of the working environment is found to be greater than the effect of occupational stress on the work-life balance.
